Player and Team Roster Rules & Regulations
1. The soccer year runs from August 1st to July 31st. Players are placed
on teams according to
their age on August 1st and are considered to be that age for the entire
year.
2. The U6 roster process will occur using the criteria of sex, age, and
school/neighborhood. At
the U8 level, effort will be made to keep the U6 teams together if possible,
with all new players being
placed on a roster based upon the criteria of sex and age only. This method
will continue through each
age level with effort made to keep the core team from the previous season
together if possible. Note:
There may be times when a team will need to be split up and the players
put on different teams to ensure
adequate and equitable roster size.
3. A new player is defined as 1) a player new to the club, or 2) a player
that has sat out one or
more seasons (for any reason).
4. Players registering on or before the registration deadline will be
placed on the team they played with
the previous season when possible. A parent/guardian may request that the
child be removed from that
specific team. These players will be distributed over the remaining teams
as long as roster size permits.
5. Players who register after the registration deadline may not be guaranteed
placement on a team, and will
not be guaranteed placement on the team they played with the previous season.
6. If a team is to be split or merged with another team, generally the
team that returns the fewest team members
from the previous season will be the team split up or merged. In the case
of a tie, a team or teams out of
the tied group of teams will be chosen at random to be split up in order
to field teams of adequate roster size.
7. If the head coach of a team has decided not to continue to coach, and
another head coach has not been
identified to fill the vacancy, then the team will be split up and the
players will be distributed over the
remaining teams as groups of players, whenever possible.
8. U9, U10 and U11 teams will consist of a maximum one head coach and one assistant
coach. U12 and above
teams will consist of a maximum one head coach and up to two assistant
coaches.
9. All special requests from coaches or players/parents are to be submitted
one month before the registration
deadline. A completed written request is necessary as to allow time for
the request to be reviewed by a
committee and voted on by the board prior to team formation.
10. Parents may request that their child play up with a one-year difference
in age being considered
(e.g., a six-year-old may be allowed to play with the seven-year-olds but
will not be moved up to
the U10 age group with the eight-year-olds.). Requests to move up in age
group will require recommendation
from a member of the club's professional coaching staff, and are subject
to space availability giving priority
to those players of true age.
11. ASC will register all players through the Iowa Soccer Association (ISA) thus providing all players with insurance coverage.
12. All U6 and U8 league games will be played in Ankeny against other
Ankeny teams. U10 and above
teams will be included in the Greater Des Moines Junior Soccer League and
play up to half of their league
games out of town.
13. All recreational teams rostered through the ASC will be required to
wear the board approved ASC uniform
starting no later than the fall season of 2003. All select teams rostered
through the ASC will be required to
wear board-approved uniforms starting no later than the fall season 2004.
